Digital Thermometers

Decorative Galileo Thermometers.

Galileo (1564-1642), one of the 16th Century's most renowned Renaissance scientists discovered that as the temperature of a liquid increases, it's buoyancy decreases. His findings were translated into an attractive, sealed glass thermometer containing a non-toxic Liquid with coloured floating spheres. The spheres are weighted to an accuracy of 3/1000 gram. These handsome thermometers use the Archimedes Principle to measure temperature. As the temperature of the air outside the thermometer changes, so does the temperature of the water surrounding the bubbles. As the temperature of the water changes so does its density. At any given density some of the bubbles will float and others will sink. The bubble that sinks the most indicates the approximate current temperature. The instruments Latin name is Thermometrolento which means Slow Thermometer. Look for the lowest floating sphere, this will give you the current room temperature. Available in three sizes 280mm, 330mm and 440mm, multi-coloured with five or seven spheres. These
